Play Session – Booking / Playing Information

How do I book?

Please choose a session time and date and select a table for your group size. Everyone in your group must have a seat at the table (with the exception of pre-walking babies who may sit on laps or use a highchair).

You will be charged £5.00 per child attending. This charge is your child’s entry price into the cafe. Please note this is non-refundable. Up to two adults may attend free. Should you wish to bring a third adult there is a small charge of £3.50 for that adult. All people attending must be accounted for with a seat. The maximum group size is 4 people. If you require more seats than this (for example you have 4 children and 2 adults) then please contact us or you can book two tables. Payment is via bank transfer once you have completed your order. Please make payment as soon as possible.

You are booking a table within a session for the general public. There are 9 tables, which seat a maximum of 24 guests (not including babies). The tables are spaced out and only guests who have booked will be admitted to the session.

What happens once I have booked?

When you have booked with us using the above booking system you will receive an email to confirm your booking.

What happens when I arrive?

When you arrive please queue outside, observing social distancing. We will be admitting one family at a time. Please be ready to remove your shoes, which you will leave inside in our cloakroom/entry area. If possible please avoid bringing buggies (there is limited space available however if you need to bring one).

We will ask all people entering to use hand gel and we will be taking temperature checks. Unfortunately if any member of your party has a high temperature (above 37.8 degrees) we will not be able to admit your group into the cafe.

If you are displaying any systems of Covid-19 such as persistent cough, high temperature, loss of the sense of smell/taste please refrain from attending our setting and follow the 14 day self-isolation procedure as recommended by government guidelines.

What happens during the play session?

Food and drinks can be purchased as normal. Please not we do not allow products purchased elsewhere to be consumed in the cafe.

We require all adults and children over the age of 11 to wear face masks whilst moving around the café. These can be removed whilst sat at your table because the number of tables have been reduced and they have been spread out. If you cough or sneeze whilst in the café politely ask that you use our handwashing facilities. There is also hand gel stations in the café which customers may use regularly.

We have introduced a number of enhanced cleaning measures to minimise the risk of our customers / staff contracting Covid-19. Whilst we know adults can socially distance we understand that young children may find this very difficult! Encourage your child to keep apart from others where possible when playing but we ask all our customers to appreciate that young children may not always abide by this and therefore by booking with us you are accepting this risk. Studies show “children can get coronavirus (COVID-19), but they seem to get it less often than adults and it’s usually less serious”. (NHS, 2020). We believe that it is very important for young children to begin socialising again so we are providing this opportunity in the safest way we can.

What measures have we put in place to protect customers and minimise the risk of COVID-19 being transmitted?

As always, Kids Play Café is very committed to providing a clean and safe play environment for our young visitors. To enhance our already vigorous cleaning regime we are now only offering set session times. In between sessions we will be cleaning all high risk areas, such as tables, play equipment, door handles and toilet area. We will also use a ULV fogging machine with disinfectant designed to combat coronavirus to ensure the hard to reach surfaces and all toys are treated at the end of each day.

We have added screens by our till and our staff will be wearing masks. We have signs in place to remind customers to socially distance.  Our lidded cups are always washed in the dishwasher for hygiene reasons. When ordering food or drink, please observe social distancing measures when queuing.

We have temporarily removed the dressing up clothes for hygiene reasons and the baby area. It is regrettable that we have had to remove the baby area, however as babies are more likely to put toys in their mouths we have decided this area was a higher risk than other areas. However we have made a small area next to the baby change so parents / carers can use the toilet facilities and leave their baby in a safe area.

When using our toilet / baby change facility you are welcome to use the antibacterial wipes provided to clean them before use should you so wish. If you have a child wearing nappies please try to bring your own changing mat (thin foldable type) to place over our one. Alternatively we recommend you place paper towels (available in the baby change area) on to the changing mat before placing your little one on there.

If you have any concerns during your session please speak to a member of staff who will be more than happy to assist you.

What happens at the end of the session?

We will give customers a warning shortly before the end of the play session to give adequate time to prepare your child/ren to leave. Please be ready to leave promptly at the end of your session to enable staff sufficient time to thoroughly clean ready for our next guests. We will ask families to go through to the cloakroom area one at a time to maintain social distancing.

Please ensure you notify Kids Play Café should you test positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of visiting our setting. We will then notify the other customers that have attended.

Thank you for your understanding about the changes we have made. We look forward to welcoming you and your little ones.
